Sites for Camping in Dalhousie

Manimahesh Lake is a lake abode to Lord Shiva as per Hindu mythology. It is also known as Dal lake. It is situated in the Pir Panjal Range of the Himalayas. It is at the hight of 4080 m. Most of the year, it remains closed due to the snow. The place is best suitable for trek lovers as it includes 13 km of walking distance. One travelling to the lake does not feel tired after watching the enchanting mountains and greenery. Camping in Dalhousie at Manimahesh also has its own thrills.

The fascinating Dainkund is a place that holds impressive views in its folds and happens to be the least visited place in the surroundings of Dalhousie. The area is believed to have been the favourite hangout spot for some Witches and hence the name "Dain Kund" which translates to "Witch's Pond". Don't worry, there are no more witches for sure, but if there were any in the past then they had a great taste for a camping spot. The village of Dainkund is filled with spots for camping in Dalhousie that are tailormade to pin a tent, start a campfire and cook some tasty dishes in a cauldron.

The Kalatop Khajjiar Sanctuary is a pristine location set in the hilly Chambal district of Himachal Pradesh and nature here attracts you like a magnet. The unspoilt abode of mother nature offers thick deodar foliage, amazing green carpets of grassland, sweet freshwater streams, the panorama of the hills around and views of the majestic snowcapped Himalayan range of Pir Panjal all the way in Jammu & Kashmir! The area of Khajjiar and adjoining Chambal area is sometimes referred to as the Switzerland of India.

Ganji Pahari is a scenic hill located at a distance of 5 kilometres from Dalhousie. The name Ganji Pahari was derived from its salient feature which is the complete absence of flora on the hill. The natural landscape makes it an exciting trekking trail and an enthralling spot for camping in Dalhousie.
